Grand Opening of stylish French Bar/Lounge ~ Victor

Houston’s newest French inspired bar/lounge named for lauded French poet and novelist Victor Hugo, has officially opened its doors to the public in the heart of the Montrose District. They are having a private grand opening on April 19th and public grand opening parties on April 20-21st. CoOwner Vincent Sinard has brought noted, avant garde restaurateur JeanPierre Gleize from Toulouse, France, together with barpreneur, DJ and music producer Franky Boissy from the very popular nightclub Pink in San Francisco to Houston to curate a multisensory experience of all things French culture from a classic and modern perspective.
“Guests will be surrounded by dramatic décor, delicious selections of wines and Champagne and savory selections to satisfy their palate” said Boissy, General Manger and Music Director of Victor. “We want Victor to be our guests home away from home.”Locals and Francophiles will appreciate the luxe design and interior elements including eye-catching, tiered, crystal chandeliers, elegant black and white marble, plush sapphire and midnight blues accompanied by deep orange hues and gold architectural accents. As a part of crafting the “entire experience” and showcasing the attention to detail that Gleize and Boissy are known for, all the draperies, fabrics, furniture, uniforms, lighting, architectural pieces and “steamer trunk” deejay platform were custom made and shipped over from France. Capturing their vision in the completely reimagined interior was Joshua Weisman of Construction Concepts in Houston.
The intimate space is a beautiful representation of French culture from the large portrait of Victor Hugo, famous lifestyle quotations from French fashion icons and historical figures emblazoned in gold on the walls to sleek flat screens alternating French news and Eurosport broadcasts. French wine, Champagne, international beers and classic-inspired cocktails are available for sipping and pairing. Small plates of tapenades and foie gras; cheese and charcuterie boards include country French toasted breads with French delicacy spreads and an assortment of patés; and a mix of large sharing boards with choices of caviar, smoked salmon, hams, Sausages, and chorizo as well as the classic Croque Monsieur. Boissy contributes his trademark blend of funky, deep beats that are sexy and sultry and speak to the soul from Tuesday to Saturday along with guest deejays he has cultivated relationships with from all around the world. A custom sound system has been installed enabling the guest to be able to socialize while still enjoying the vibe of the music. The purpose of the music program is to bring the entire community in and reestablish the lost art and practice of a true cultural and personal exchange.Victor will open with L’Apéro each evening from 5 to 8 p.m., all cocktails will be $10 and select wines by the glass will be $7. In France, happy hour is typically called l’heure de l’apéro. Apéro is a staple in the daily repertoire of the French, highlighting their high value placed on food and wine culture, friends, family, and relaxation. It is a subtle, refined version of the American tradition.
